A complete set of air flotation equipment is a water treatment device that allows suspended solids to adhere to bubbles and rise to the water surface, thereby separating water and suspended solids. It can also make the surfactant in water attach to the bubble surface and float, so as to separate from water, which is called foam flotation method. The equipment used in the air flotation method includes an air flotation tank for completing the separation process and auxiliary equipment for generating bubbles. In water treatment, air flotation can be used in situations where precipitation is not suitable, to separate suspended solids with a density close to water and difficult to precipitate, such as oil, fiber, algae, etc. It can also be used to concentrate activated sludge. The complete set of air flotation equipment mainly relies on the hydrophilic and hydrophobic surfaces of suspended solids. Hydrophobic particles are prone to attaching bubbles on their surfaces, so air flotation can be used. Hydrophilic particles can be converted to hydrophobic after being treated with appropriate chemicals. In air flotation in water treatment, coagulants are commonly used to agglomerate colloidal particles into flocs, which have a network structure and are easy to trap bubbles, thereby improving the efficiency of air flotation. Moreover, if there are surfactants (such as detergents) in the water, they can form foam and also attach suspended particles to rise together.
The complete set of air flotation equipment is mainly used for solid-liquid or liquid-liquid separation. By using a gas dissolution and release system, a large number of fine bubbles are generated in water, which adhere to solid or liquid particles in the wastewater with a density close to that of water, resulting in a state where the overall density is lower than that of water. They are then lifted to the water surface by buoyancy, thereby achieving solid-liquid or liquid-liquid separation. In the field of water treatment, air flotation machines are applied in the following areas: 1) Separation of fine suspended solids, algae and other micro aggregates in surface water.
2) Recycling useful substances from industrial wastewater, such as pulp in papermaking wastewater. 3) Replace the separation and concentration of sludge in the secondary sedimentation tank.
The air flotation methods of complete air flotation equipment can be divided into dispersed air flotation, dissolved air flotation (including true air flotation), and electrolytic air flotation. Currently, it has applications in water supply, industrial wastewater, and urban sewage treatment. Compared with other solid-liquid separation equipment, air flotation equipment has the characteristics of low investment, small footprint, high degree of automation, and convenient operation and management. In practice, targeted selection and use should be made based on the characteristics of wastewater treatment processes, wastewater quality and quantity.
